Character

Who dances it: Everyone

A women's dance from Corfu, danced to the song 'Kato ston Ai-Giorgi' (Down at St George's). The dancers hold large handkerchiefs by opposite corners and link to each other through them, in a circle facing the centre. It is said to have come from Paxoi; it used to be danced mainly in Lefkimmi and Paxoi at carnival and weddings, and spread across the island with the dance associations. A dance of the same name is also recorded on Kythira.
