The Orthodox communities of Cappadocia in central Asia Minor spoke Cappadocian Greek or Turkish (Karamanlidika), and their songs survive in both languages. Their dances were accompanied by violin, oud and frame drum, often with dancers clacking wooden spoons, as in the konialis; many, such as those of Sinasos, were women's dances. They came to Greece in the population exchange of 1923–1924 and founded villages such as Nea Karvali near Kavala and Nea Sinasos on Euboea, where they keep their dances.
