Character
Who dances it: Couples
The ballos of Kythnos, also called thermiotikos after the island's old name, Thermia. It is danced in couples and differs from the ballos of other islands: it has three parts, the stroto (smooth), the patito (stamped) and the turns, or fourles, in which man and woman spin many times while holding hands. At a Kythnos feast it follows the syrtos, and at Carnival young people in local costume dance it in the lanes of Dryopida.
