Character
Who dances it: Everyone
A dance from Lefkada named after the song 'Tria karavakia' (Three little ships). It is a double syrtos: the first part in 4/4 at a moderate pace, the second in 7/8, like the kalamatianos. Local tradition links it to the fishermen of the coastal villages, who danced it barefoot at the end of the catch, holding the net; it is also called the 'farewell dance', as it was danced when emigrants left and when they came back.
