Character
Who dances it: Everyone
A dance that often closes the feast in Northern Epirus villages, in 6/8 or 3/4, with a phrase of twenty moves in ten motifs of two. The name may be linked to the Russian song 'Katyusha', or may be a corruption of 'Baidouska', which it resembles in movement. Three different sets of lyrics, from different periods, are sung to the same melody; the newest is about a woman of Dropoli and the villages emptied by emigration.
