Who dances it: Everyone

The best-known local dance of Lemnos, danced in a circle by men and women to the song "Vre kechagia perifane" (Proud kechagias). Its name comes from the kechagiades, the island's herder-farmers, whom the folk painter Theophilos painted as a symbol of Lemnos. Lemnian associations in Greece and abroad still dance it.
