Character

Who dances it: Everyone

An instrumental dance without a song, said to come from Dropoli (Deropoli), the area the Greeks of Northern Epirus regard as their cultural centre, and it has spread to other villages such as Tserkovitsa. It has two alternating parts: the first in 6/8, with twenty moves in four motifs of five, and the second in 4/8, with six moves in two motifs of three. For the communities of the area it is a symbol of their local identity.
