Character

Who dances it: Everyone

A lively 'sta dio' (in two) syrtos, faster than the pogonisios, danced in Epirus, Thessaly and Central Greece. The name ('cut') comes from the breaks in the music: when the tune stops, the dancers shout 'hey', clap or raise their arms. In Epirus it is one of the dances never missing from weddings and village feasts.
