Character
Who dances it: Everyone
A mocking dance done in the early hours of a wedding feast, by men only, and today also at carnival. In the first part everyone dances a syrtos 'sta dio' (in two). In the second, in free rhythm, the leader pretends to faint, mimicking the bride, and the others try to bring him round; when the music changes he jumps up and dances again. This is repeated two or three times, and sometimes water is thrown on him or he is slapped in jest.
