Character

Who dances it: Everyone

A dance from Kefalonia in 2/4, danced by men and women holding palms with arms low. Older records also call it 'Koutso' or 'Koutso-stamatistos', and the folklorist Loukatos lists it together with the Manetas ('Mermigga and Maneta'). The name comes from the song of Mermigkas (the ant), which according to Loukatos exists in two main types, one Cretan and one from the mainland.
