Formation
Open circle, mixed, led by the "kavos" with the "timoni" (helm) at the end; each group of women waits its turn to move to the front.

Character

Who dances it: Everyone

The fast dance of the Karpathian glenti, following the kato choros and the kneeling dance. It is best known from Olympos and Diafani, where at festivals its rhythm goes on all night on lyra, tsampouna and laouto. The kavos sets the tone, and each man with the women of his group ("meria") waits to reach the front and take his turn leading the dance.
