The "chrysi", the bridal costume of Skyros, is built of many layers: two chemises with embroidered "skoutes", a brocade waistcoat, a sleeveless dress and a short gouna. The embroidery on the chemises often shows hoopoes and small ships. On the head go the tsemberi, the white bolia with a crimson centre and over them the "ftas", a large blue and crimson kerchief.
