The bridal costume of Kastellorizo, from the late 19th century, was worn at weddings and feasts, and in plainer cloth also every day. Over silk breeches, the kondovratsi, and a chemise went the kavadi, the “golden sakos”, with a silk sash at the waist and a velvet gouna. On her head a woman wore a small red cap, the raxini, and over it a large silk shawl. Women wore many rings and walked with their arms crossed on the chest to show them.
