Santa was seven villages south of Trebizond, at 1,500 to 1,800 metres, and their costume was made for the cold. A bride often wore two or three zipounas of striped silk, each a little longer than the next, so they showed in tiers at the hem. Over them went the tsoha, a long open coat of dark blue English felt with gold embroidery. They wore no tapla, only a kerchief.
